Lumen Christi Catholic Multi Academy

Become A Foundation Director or Governor

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Governance role within a Lumen Christi Catholic Multi Academy in the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

Before you start, please read and note the following:

If you are applying to be a Foundation Governor ('Representative')on a school's Local Governing Body (known as School Standards Committees in Lumen Christi), you would not typically be eligible for appointment if you are related to a current employee or another governor at that school.
  • Relatives include - husband/wife, father/mother or father/mother-in-law, sister/brother or sister/brother-in-law, son/daughter, or son/daughter-in-law.

Employees of Lumen Christi are not eligible for appointment as a Foundation Director on the Board of the Lumen Christi Board.  If you are a Lumen Christi employee, please consider offering to serve on another MAC’s Board instead (you can use the same application link to do this).

Please contact Rebecca Tonks, r.tonks@bdes.org.uk, for further information and guidance.

To complete this application you will be asked to provide the following information, so please ensure that you have this available before you continue:

  1. The email address of your parish priest who can verify that you are a practising Catholic, i.e. the priest of the church where you attend Mass. Priest’s details can be found on the Archdiocesan website: Find a Priest or Deacon
  • Please ensure that you have spoken to your priest before proceeding with your application so that he is aware that he will be contacted to verify that you are a practising Catholic.
  • The email address of the person in the MAC to which you are applying who can verify that you have a current DBS certificate for the governance role for which you are applying.  For Lumen Christi applications this is: office@lumenchristi.org.uk
  • If you do not yet hold a DBS certificate for the governance role for which you are applying in the MAC, please contact the relevant MAC to establish the application process for this as you may need to obtain one before submitting an application - in Lumen Christi, this can be done as after the application is submitted. The MAC will be able to advise of the email address of the person who will be able to verify your DBS once it is in place.
